CEA Awards Recognize Education, Communications Excellence

2018 CEA Newsletter and Website Award winners were honored at the Representative Assembly in May.

Each year, CEA recognizes local associations, individual members, and community stakeholders who make the teaching profession shine. Awards and grants are given for best local association website and newsletter, outstanding teaching professionals and advocates, new public relations projects, best media coverage, and more.

The annual competitions are open to all local associations across the state, and the deadline for entries is 5pm on Friday, February 22, 2019. Award winners will be recognized at the CEA Representative Assembly in May.

Deadline Coming Up for Nominations for CEA Human and Civil Rights Awards

Do you know an educator who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to multiculturalism, equal opportunities, LGBTQQI support and awareness, conflict resolution, or other social issues pertinent to students and public education?

Nominate yourself or a colleague for one of nine CEA Human and Civil Rights Awards. Now easier than ever, nominations can be made online.

The deadline for nominations is February 1, 2019.

Categories include:

  • Susan B. Anthony—Prudence Crandall Equality Award
  • Mahatma Gandhi—Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Award
  • Katherine Dunham Award
  • Helen Keller—Anne Sullivan Memorial Award
  • John Rogers Memorial Award
  • CEA Award for Leadership in Hispanic Educational and Community Relationships
  • CEA Humanitarian Award for Leadership in Recent Immigrant Educational and Community Relationships
  • Harvey Milk—Sylvia Rivera Award for Challenging Discrimination Related to Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation
  • CEA Presidential Award—Henry Barnard Memorial Award

CEA’s Human and Civil Rights Awards provide an opportunity to acknowledge these dedicated and diverse men and women for advancing human and civil rights, and standing up for public schools.
