New CEA TV Ads Focus on Need to Reduce Standardized Testing
Two new CEA public awareness TV ads featuring CEA members and Connecticut students will be playing on Connecticut TV stations starting tomorrow. The spots focus on the need to treat children as individuals, increase instructional time in schools, and reduce the number of required standardized tests.
The ads feature Orange teacher Katie McDonald, Sharon teacher Kerry O’Toole, East Hartford teachers Jorge Briceno and Monique Butler, Stamford teacher Tricia Conduah, Newington teacher Spencer Peterson, Branford teacher Jeffrey Rizzo, Stratford teacher Samantha Rosenberg, and Simsbury teacher Jamie Sepa.
The Connecticut students also featured in the ads say that they are missing out on experiences that provide creativity and exploration because of all the tests that they are required to take.
