Wallingford Educator Brings Experience in China Back to His Classroom

Chris Stone

Chris Stone, a teacher at Pond Hill School in Wallingford, took part in a global competency fellowship that included a trip to China.

How can educators infuse global competency in daily lessons? Wallingford teacher Chris Stone, one of only five recipients nation-wide of the Horace Mann Award for Teaching Excellence, participated in a year-long NEA Foundation fellowship program focused on just that.

The fellowship program, which included a trip to China, Stone described as, “the most meaningful professional development experience I have participated in during my teaching career.”

Stone said,

I gained a better sense of how diverse countries like China and the United States are similar in many fundamental economic and sociological ways. It was an unforgettable experience that will have a lasting impression on how I view the world and how I share the world with my students on a daily basis.
