New Education Commissioner for Connecticut

Amistad Academy founder Stefan Pryor will be formally recommended to Governor Malloy as Connecticut’s next Commissioner of Education at a State Board of Education meeting tomorrow.

The Hartford Courant reported Pryor’s selection this morning and State Department of Education spokesman Mark Linabury has since told CEA that Pryor is the candidate who will be recommended to the governor.

Former Commissioner of Education Mark McQuillan stepped down in December and long-time educator George Coleman has been filling in as Acting Commissioner while the State Board of Education conducted a search for a finalist.
