Sample Common Assessment Questions Available

August 15, 2012

Educators are being asked to align their lesson plans with the Common Core State Standards but tests won’t be available for two more years. Education Week reports that some sample items are becoming available.

“What we are starting to see here are tests that really get at a deeper understanding on the part of students, not just superficial knowledge,” said Robert L. Linn, an assessment expert and professor emeritus of education at the University of Colorado at Boulder who reviewed a sampling of the consortia’s materials. “But unless students are really prepared for them, it’s going to be a huge challenge.”

Entering my 41st year as a teacher, I will draft, craft my lesson plans with the Common Core State Standards and provide additional thinking skills reflective of interactive student participation to guarantee success on future tests albeit CMT etc. Al Bruhn
