Still Waiting on Fate of Certification Bill
June 16, 2009
Educators had high hopes for a teacher certification bill that stalled at the last minute and didn’t pass the State Senate before the close of the legislative session. There is still a possibility that the bill will be passed in special session however. The legislature will be meeting Friday and Saturday this week.
Had the bill passed the State Senate, it would have allowed teachers an active role in developing their local professional development programs. Another change would have included broadening the definition of an alternate route to certification program. Read more from CEA.
