Anthony Mullen was honored as the 59th recipient of the National Teacher of the Year Award at a White House ceremony, read more. Mullen is a former New York City police officer and current Greenwich Education Association member who teaches at the ARCH School, an alternative high school for at-risk and special needs teens.
I spoke to him at a reception that was held in his honor at the Connecticut State Capitol to learn why he decided to become a teacher and what it’s been like to receive so much national attention.
